November 2011 Update

So!

I know that things appear to be very quiet from the outside looking in, but it really isn't the case. Right now La Bastard are DEEP in preparations for our album launch and video clip - who would have thought an independent band could be that prepared huh?

To make it easier, because I tend to just go back and forth a lot when going over stuff I'll break it down into some dot points

Video Clip - For some reason I like to take on more than I can chew, so what better way to create more work for the band than to make a video clip to go with the album!! Whoo! So Jimi, Eli one of our cast members (TOP SECRET!!! As if I'll give THAT away) and Stuart Simpson (Who part of Lost Art Films and also Director of El Monstro Del Mar) will be meeting tomorrow to go over our plan of attack. Now that I've said it I really hope things don't fall in one giant heap. I think I might just cry......

Album - Currently our album is in its final stages of mixing and will be sent off for mastering and pressing very shortly. The artwork we pretty much got done before Ben went over seas for work (in Africa ca ca...) so we are really on the home stretch as far as having it in our hot little hands!

Album Launch - WELL it has been locked in!! Friday the 3rd of February at The Retreat in Brunswick!! Lock it in! FUCKING SAVE THE DATE *ahem* We will be taking over The Retreat with one of our favourite bands to play with (Well there are a couple, but these guys know how to DANCE!) The Death Rattles and its guaranteed to be an awesome night.

We have maybe a couple of shows between now and then. I will let you guys know as soon as I know I'm allowed to say (What a mouth full)

Seriously though, who actually reads this?

ahhhhhhhh...........good times xx

I should update this more often....

I think I will make a more conscious effort to do so. Facebook, Myspace, Google + seem so transient. I've been lazy.....

In other news. La Bastard are playing this Friday night at the Bendigo Hotel in Collingwood

La Bastard @ Pony March 25th 2011

Here's the Spiel for the night....

The Subsequents, My Left Boot and La Bastard take over Pony for a night of rock and roll that will make your eyes bleed and your ears water.

Being one of Melbourne's most underrated Rock bands, see what the fuss will soon be about as The Subsequents take on headline duties fresh off the back of their stella Sydney Road show at The Vic Hotel.

Manning the support guns are La Bastard and My Left Boot, both who have front people that will make you cry, dance, or drunk dial an ex in a fit of melancholy horniness.

With rhythm sections that will get your foot or arse tapping, please consider buying at least one of the guitarists from these bands a drink to get him through the show!

Get your sorry arse out of the house and away from the TV. You might even make a friend!

10.30 La Bastard
11.30 My Left Boot
12.30 The Subsequents

$6 Entry

OK! So, one thing that Jimi (our Bass player btw) pointed out after he looked over the work sheet (which is what you get from the venue, and what I usually skim over, but really, who looks at those things anyway?!?) was this:

Pony has teamed with Awdio – a worldwide real time music network.
Basically they stream the gigs at Pony live onto the internet, through a subscriber network. It doesn't cost anything for bands to be involved, and the band retain the rights to the music. The sets are only streamed and not recorded. It's basically a method of international promotion and only a few venues in Australia are partnering with them. They will also pay bands that are involved a percentage payment.

SO! If you don't want to get out of the house, but still want to listen to some live music, its a nice option. I'd like to get paid though. How does that work I wonder?
The wonders of technology these days....

Still, regardless, it will be an interesting show. If you know anything about us you'll know why, without getting into the live streaming thing and without me broadcasting it over the interwebs, just come down and give moral support. I might even dance with you....

For those that are interested, we recorded a few weeks ago and are currently in the process of turning those recordings into something that you can have. For ever and ever and ever. When that process if finished we will let you know. In the mean time keep your ears to the ground

First things first!

Hi,
I'm a band called La Bastard and I'm a lot of fun.
Here's some footage from our first 2 shows. One was at Gigfest in Bendigo at the Newmarket Hotel on the 22nd of January, and the other  at The Arthouse Hotel on the 23rd of January. We'd like to thank everyone for coming.
What a blast!
